This book revisits, deepening its content, the message launched by our previous book “Looking beyond” Ed. Franco Angeli, which stated that “lean thinking” in a business context goes beyond production and encompasses design and “offices” in a 360-degree manner. In particular, the in-depth analysis concerns design, which is “that part of the company” that profoundly influences all others, both because it is through the rapid development of increasingly innovative and technological products that companies secure their future, and because, depending on how the product is conceived and thought out, the way of producing and selling it directly follows.
The text provides solutions to problems and suggestions for improvement on topics that are daily discussed among entrepreneurs and managers in our manufacturing realities. It reminds us that “lean thinking” is not the prerogative of large companies but, in fact, is more easily applied to small and medium-sized enterprises because, with the application of lean principles, people's way of thinking must change, and therefore it is obviously easier in a small company where there are fewer people and they are more pragmatic and concrete.
This book is not a scientific treatise, nor is it a technical manual for designers: it is an attempt, which we believe to be successful, to provide concrete answers and solutions to the problems of Italian and non-Italian manufacturing companies.
For this reason, we believe that by making it available to entrepreneurs, managers, researchers, students, and why not, even people outside of business, we can contribute to the development and improvement of the Italian industrial system.
The book is available in the best bookstores throughout Italy, can be requested from Bonfiglioli Consulting by sending an email to bcsoa@bcsoa.it, or purchased as an e-book. on the Publisher's website.
