Kamishibai

What is it?

The Kamishibai is a visual audit method used to periodically verify critical elements of a process or work area. Kamishibai boards help make standards visible, quickly distinguish normal from abnormal conditions, and guide checks directly on gemba, that is, at the point where the work is done.

How can I help?

Kamishibai helps maintain operational discipline, brings anomalies to light immediately, and reinforces adherence to standards. It is particularly useful for supporting Visual Management, standardized work, 5S activities, and problem-solving processes.

Why use it

Unlike occasional checks, Kamishibai creates a simple and visible routine that makes process oversight more consistent and reliable. This makes it a useful tool when an organization wants to transform written standards into truly applied daily behaviors.
