FIFO Lane

What is it?
FIFO is an acronym for First In First Out. A Lean concept that links two process stages. Two rules govern a FIFO lane:

1. There is a maximum number of positions, and when the FIFO is full, the procurement process stops producing.
2. The first element to enter the FIFO queue is the first element to leave.

How can I help?
The use of FIFO lanes helps limit work in progress and can drastically reduce lead times. With FIFO lanes, there's no need to reprioritize work that has already started.
