CELL (Cellular Production Flow)

A set of machines dedicated to the production of complete parts, performing different operations in close sequence to allow for a unified flow. The arrangement of the machines is such as to allow for the pairing of multiple machines to each person working within the cell. The advantages of this production method are mainly the unified product flow and the flexible distribution of human labor across multiple machines, with improved communication, reduced transfers, and lower inventory. The most common types are U-shaped, L-shaped, or I-shaped.
