Takt Time

German term to define the pace that production must have to fully meet demand and, therefore, the pace at which you should produce to ensure the value stream is synchronized with actual customer needs. In practice, it is the available production time divided by demand, with both terms referring to the same time horizon. Takt time therefore represents the pace at which the value stream must flow (objective: to determine how often (on average) a piece is needed to meet customer demand).
