POCA – Plan, Do, Check, Act (also PDSA – Plan, Do, Study, Act)

What is it?
A systematic and iterative methodology for implementing improvements based on the scientific method. The steps are:

  1. Planning (develop a hypothesis, establish a plan, and define expected results)
  2. Carry out (execute the experiment by implementing the plan)
  3. Check (verify the results obtained)
  4. Act (review and evaluate; standardize or restart the experiment)

How can I help?
In POCA, problems are thoroughly analyzed before acting. The resulting countermeasures are therefore typically better and the risk of problems recurring is substantially reduced.
