Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)

What is it?
Structure for measuring productivity loss for a given manufacturing process. Three categories of loss are tracked:

  • Availability (e.g., downtime)
  • performance (e.g., slow cycles)
  • quality (e.g., rejects)

100% OEE means perfect production: producing only good parts, as quickly as possible, without downtime.

How can I help?
It provides a benchmark or baseline and a means to monitor progress in eliminating waste from a manufacturing process.
